About This Journal
The Journal of Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (JCRES) is the official journal of the Institute for Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at St. John’s University, Queens, NY. Published two times per year, JCRES is a free and open access online publication. JCRES’s mission is to educate and inform the public, by way of discussion and critical analysis, about the ways that racial and related forms of structured oppression continue to shape the life experiences of racially marginalized people and communities, in the United States and globally. As an open-access journal, JCRES aims to reach beyond the ivory tower, both in terms of who reads it and in terms of who contributes to it.
